LIDEWIJ EDELKOORT & PETRA JANSSEN 24 okt 2020 DEN BOSCH

Edelkoort presenteert tijdens de Dutch Design Week haar nieuwe platform World Hope Forum. Het is een soort anti-Davosforum, waarbij zij creatieve mensen wil samenbrengen om de beste ideeën en visies uit te wisselen. Macht en overredingskracht staan niet voorop, maar juist het opnieuw vormgeven van onze maatschappij en het bevragen waar deze uit moet bestaan.

”De creatieve mens moet nu aan tafel als het gaat om besluitvorming. Zij zijn er altijd om het geld te genereren, maar nooit om het te beheren. En dus wordt de creatieveling altijd uitgebuit door het grote geld, voorbijgestreefd door het grote geld en vernietigd door marketing. Ik denk dat dat omgekeerd moet worden omdat de creatieve geesten in de maatschappij beter weten waar we naartoe moeten.”

Petra heeft als ambassadeur Nederland een programma samengesteld.  Je kunt het terug beluisteren op het WHF You Tube kanaal. De eerste introductie vond plaats op 24 oktober in het Social label Lab in den Bosch. Het design lab voor maatschappelijke vernieuwing via design en communicatie.

Lidewij Edelkoort is one of the world’s most respected cultural forecasters, working in industries from design and fashion to food, architecture, beauty and retail. Founded in 1986, her company Trend Union produces design and colour tools for strategists and creatives alike. She is also a magazine publisher, a champion for craft, a design educator and an exhibition curator.

Empower society by design

Designer Petra Janssen has been teaching at the Design Academy Eindhoven’s Man & communication department for 15 years and has her own graphic design agency Studio Boot for more then 25 years. In 2011 she initiated a festival called ‘Huttenfestival De Vlek’ where she built a small village together with a group of desiger-friends in the City of Tilburg (The Netherlands). This led to the birth of the Social Label Foundation. Now she is also teaching at the Master program Practice Held in Common Artez University.

11:45 Philip Fimmano, A Labour of Love: new materialism in design

Philip is a trend analyst, design curator & author. With his partner Lidewij Edelkoort he has co-created exhibitions for museums & institutions around the world. In 2011, he co-founded Talking Textiles; an ongoing initiative to promote awareness & innovation in textiles through touring exhibitions, a trend publication, a design prize & free educational programmes – including New York Textile Month, a citywide festival celebrating textile creativity each September. Fimmano teaches a forecasting masters at Polimoda in Florence & is on the board of directors for the International Folk Art Market in Santa Fe.

13:15 Rodney Lam, serial entrepeneur & co-owner, Daily Paper

A serial entrepreneur, a family man, an actor, the managing director and co-owner of Daily Paper and the writer of a successful movie At the age of 20, Rodney became a youth pastor in Amsterdam, sup-porting and mentoring detainees into rebuilding their lives. Together with the founders of Daily Paper, he has been a major player in the success of the streetwear label.

13:45 Pascale Gatzen, head of Practice Held in Common, ArtEZ

Pascale Gatzen is an artist, educator and fashion designer based in The Netherlands. Within her art and de-sign practice, Gatzen produces and facilitates large collaborative projects using clothing as her main medium. Embracing fashion as a mode of human togetherness, the focus of both her artistic practice and her teaching is on the relational and empowering aspects of fashion, advancing cooperative models of production and exchange.

15:15 Michiel van Maaren, 2020 Design Academy Eindhoven graduate

Michiel van Maaren graduated from the Design Academy Eindho-ven in January 2020 with the project ‘MY BLUE POLO’. He further developed this project in the project ‘The fastest fashion’.

15:45 Tord Boontje, designer & creator of Do-It-Together

Tord Boontje is known for his expression of romanticism in contemporary design. Some of his designs are whimsical and light-hearted; at the same time they can be technically innovative and connect with strong emotions. “I’m interested in creating elements for everyday life that are exciting and uplifting to live with” says Boontje.

16:10 Lucas de Man Biobased Creations

Lucas De Man (Belgium, 1982) graduated from the KU Leuven with a master’s in literature in 2004 and went to the Amsterdam University of the Arts (NL) to become a Theatre Director afterwards. Together with Wouter Goedheer en Bas van Rijnsoever he founded Company New Heroes of which he is the creative director for 12 years.
